Annie Shek joined The Commonwealth Fund in September 2011 as the grants assistant. In this role, Ms. Shek is responsible for processing grant proposals, responding to telephone inquiries, and handling the grants management e-mail in-boxes. She also prepares and maintains the Board cycle calendar and the log of grant proposals under consideration, scheduling all board project review, grantee, and program plan meetings. Other responsibilities include archiving Treasurer’s Office files and grants management and related program grant files and processing vendor and grant checks. Ms. Shek graduated from Stony Brook University in 2009 with a B.A. in Sociology. Prior to joining the Fund, she was a staff assistant at the Yale–China Association in New Haven, Connecticut. Ms. Shek has worked at the Charles B. Wang Community Health Center as part of various youth programming efforts. She started out as one of the first Teen Health Educators at the Center and later became a Youth Services Coordinator for an adolescent program and an obesity initiative funded through the NYS Department of Health.
