David A. Squires, M.A., is senior researcher to The Commonwealth Fund president. He was previously a senior researcher for the Fund's Program on International Health Policy and Practice Innovations. Mr. Squires is responsible for data analysis of the Fund’s annual international health policy surveys and coauthoring journal articles on the findings; authoring reports on U.S. health system spending and performance compared to other countries; and researching and tracking health care policy developments in industrialized countries. He also provides editorial support for materials published by the international program and presented at international program–sponsored events; monitors and helps to support the research projects of the Harkness Fellows; and prepares presentations.
Mr. Squires joined the Fund in September 2008, having worked for Abt Associates as associate analyst, domestic health for the previous two years. In that role, Mr. Squires provided research and analytic support on domestic and international health projects, including conducting statistical analyses, literature reviews, and writing and editing reports. Mr. Squires holds a Master’s degree in Bioethics from New York University, and graduated magna cum laude with a B.A. (honors) in English and minors in Economics and Philosophy from Bates College.
