    • December 2011 - January 2012: Selection of 2012-13 Harkness Fellows
    • March 12, 2012: Deadline for receipt of applications from Canada. Beginning with the class of 2012, with co-funding from CHSRF, the Canadian Harkness Fellowship will now only be offered as a full time Fellowship, based in the U.S.
    • April 2012: Selection of 2012-13 Canadian Harkness Fellows
    • August–September 2012: Starting dates for new class of Harkness Fellows
    • September 17, 2012: Applications due from Australia, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom for 2013-14 class

    • November 19, 2012: Applications due from Canada, Germany, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland for 2013-14 class
