New efforts to develop large-scale mentoring programs are under way in a number of cities. Yet, little national information exists about why adults participate as mentors, their experiences as mentors, or how program features support or discourage successful mentoring activities. This project will conduct interviews across the country to explore both formal and informal mentoring experiences. Findings from the project will be presented at the Fund's 1998 national symposium on mentoring, and will inform future generations of mentoring programs.
