In the year ahead, the program will continue to conduct work to meet its four objectives: developing and assessing information on the performance of plans, encouraging plans and purchasers to improve their performance by responding to reports on plan quality and adopting effective practices developed by other plans, documenting the quality of care provided to low-income individuals by Medicaid plans, and encouraging states to adopt and implement effective quality assurance systems for managed care. Arnold M. Epstein, M.D., will serve as program director.
