Over the past decade, a decline in employer-sponsored health coverage in New York has led to a sharp increase in the number of uninsured workers and families. State and New York City officials have sought to counter this trend by developing special initiatives for small businesses and expanding public insurance options for low-income families. By expanding an ongoing national survey to include large samples of New York City and State employers, this project will help assess the impact of these initiatives and track employer health coverage patterns in New York. The project will also make it possible to compare employer health benefit policies in New York with policies in effect throughout the nation.
