The Fund's 1998 International Health Policy Survey found that in none of the five countries surveyed was the majority of the population content with the health care system. Since that time, the health systems of Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and the United States have undergone rapid changes that are likely reflected in patients' health care experiences and perceptions. A core set of questions developed for the 1998 survey will be repeated in 2001 and supplemented by additional questions on disparities in health care for at-risk populations-the theme of next year's international symposium. Survey results should prove valuable to health ministers, policymakers, health care leaders, researchers, and the public.
