'Talking Health': The Public Insurance Plan

May 1, 2009 - The latest webcast in the "Talking Health" series, presented by the Association of Health Care Journalists, The Commonwealth Fund, and the City University of New York Graduate School of Journalism, was streamed live on Friday, May 1, at 2:30 p.m., E.D.T. This episode featured two health policy experts: Cathy Schoen, senior vice president for research and evaluation at The Commonwealth Fund, and Bruce M. Bullen, chief operating officer of Harvard Pilgrim Health Care. Noam Levey, a reporter in the Washington Bureau of the Los Angeles Times, and Reed Abelson of The New York Times, provided his insights and suggestions for reporters covering what will be a major story in the coming months. Today, The Commonwealth Fund continues to carry out this mandate by supporting independent research and grant making to improve health practice and policy. Harkness House at 100

December 11, 2008 - The Commonwealth Fund received its historic headquarters, "Harkness House," as a bequest in 1951. Designed by the architect James Gamble Rogers, the building was constructed as the residence of Edward and Mary Stillman Harkness between 1906 and 1908. Harkness House, at One East 75th Street in New York City, received landmark status in 1967. Play »
