Overview

New York City's health care system is known internationally for its excellent medical centers and extensive public hospital and clini system. Yet, New Yorker's own access to quality health care is at risk due to a steady erosion of private health insurance coverage coupled with widening income disparities. Increases in the ranks of New York's uninsured are likely to strain the City's capacity to serve those in need.
