Overview
In this study, the authors analyze the effects of private, nonprofit hospital conversions that occurred between 1985 and 1993 by comparing converting hospitals to a control group of statistically similar private nonprofit hospitals that were estimated to have a high probability of conversion, but did not convert over the observation period.
