On April 24, 2015, 160 congressional and administration staff, journalists, and other Washington, D.C., policy stakeholders convened for a briefing to discuss innovative efforts in both the private and public sectors to move toward a high-performance health system.

Matthew Press, M.D., from the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation, or CMMI, described federal efforts to pilot and evaluate innovative delivery and payment models and scaling successful innovations. Wendy Everett, of the Network for Excellence in Health Innovation, discussed recent research on identifying and testing innovations and the challenges of successful, widespread implementation. Daniel Riskin, M.D., of Vanguard Medical Technologies spoke to infrastructure changes that could further promote private sector investment that complements and enhances public sector initiatives. The briefing was comoderated by Sarah Dash, of the Alliance for Health Reform, and The Commonwealth Fund’s Rachel Nuzum.
