Senior Program Officer, Results for Development Institute

Amanda Folsom is a senior program officer at the Results for Development Institute (R4D) where she provides program management and technical assistance for the Ministerial Leadership Initiative for Global Health, a program funded by the Gates Foundation and Packard Foundation. She also works on a joint project with the Brookings Institution that is applying stewardship lessons drawn from the U.S. health system to developing countries with complex, mixed public/private health systems.

Prior to joining R4D in February 2009, Ms. Folsom led the AcademyHealth International Exchange Program, "Learning from Other Industrialized Health Systems," and oversaw a new portfolio of International Health Study Tours. Previously Ms. Folsom was deputy director for program evaluation and legislation for the Maryland Medicaid program. She also worked with the Kaiser Family Foundation and the Department of Health Policy and Management at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. She served for two years as a U.S. Peace Corps community health volunteer in Burkina Faso, West Africa. Ms. Folsom is a graduate of the University of Virginia, and holds a master’s degree in public health from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
