Ann Lennarson Greer, Ph.D., is professor of sociology and urban studies at the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee and a member of the faculty of the Helen Bader Institute for Nonprofit Management. Over three decades, Greer has conducted personal interviews concerned with the translation of science to medical practice, including adoption of new science and technology, the implementation of evidence-based protocols, support of clinical trials, and attitudes toward the electronic ambulatory medical record. As a Senior International Fellow of the John E. Fogarty International Center for Advanced Study in the Health Sciences, she enjoyed a posting in the United Kingdom with the Health Unit of Brunel Institute for Organization and Social Studies. More recently, she was a Visiting Research Fellow at the Sealy Center for Geriatrics at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. Greer has served as an advisor to numerous government agencies from the international to the local level, including the World Health Organization–Europe, the British Medical Research Council, the National Institute of Mental Health, the National Institutes of Health Office of Medical Applications Research, and MetaStar, the Wisconsin Quality Improvement Organization. Greer holds a Ph.D. in sociology from Northwestern University. She can be e-mailed at agreer@uwm.edu.
