Kevin Grumbach, M.D., is professor and chair of the Department of Family and Community Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine. He is codirector of the UCSF Center for Excellence in Primary Care and codirector of the Community Engagement and Health Policy Program for the UCSF Clinical and Translational Science Institute. He and Thomas Bodenheimer are coauthors of the books Understanding Health Policy—A Clinical Approach and Improving Primary Care: Strategies and Tools for a Better Practice. Dr. Grumbach is a member of the Institute of Medicine of the National Academy of Sciences. He has served as an advisor to congressional committees and government agencies on primary care and health reform. He practices family medicine at the Family Health Center at San Francisco General Hospital. Dr. Grumbach received his medical degree from the University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine.
