Jane E. Henney, M.D., is a professor of medicine at the University of Cincinnati Academic Health Center, having served until recently as senior vice president and Provost for Health Affairs for the university. Dr. Henney served as U.S. Commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) from 1998 until January 2001, being the first woman to head the FDA. In 2000, Dr. Henney was elected to the Institute of Medicine and is a fellow of the American College of Health Care Executives and a member of the Society of Medical Administrators and the American Society of Clinical Oncology. She serves on the following boards: Cigna Corporation, Amerisource Bergen, Astrazeneca PLC, and the China Medical Board. She was the recipient of the Excellence in Women’s Health Award from the Jacobs Institute of Women’s Health in 1999.
