Edward C. King is the executive director of the National Senior Citizens Law Center (NSCLC), a non-profit organization founded in 1972. NSCLC advocates for the rights of older Americans, particularly those who live in poverty. NSCLC attorneys specialize in important legal issues relating to (among other things) Medicaid, Medicare Part D, long-term care, Social Security, and SSI. NSCLC trains attorneys and community groups to strengthen local advocacy, and co-counsels larger cases with national significance. Mr. King has served as executive director on two separate occasions, the first in the early 1980's. He returned as NSCLC's executive director in 2002 after serving as the first chief justice for the Federated States of Micronesia, as a justice in two other South Pacific jurisdictions, and as a Federal Magistrate Judge for the U.S. District Court for Hawaii. Among his areas of interest at NSCLC is access to courts and, under his leadership, NSCLC has begun and sustained a Federal Rights Project that works to maintain access to justice for older Americans.
