Alice Kuo, M.D., Ph.D., is an assistant professor in Pediatrics and Internal Medicine at UCLA. She completed a National Research Service Award (NRSA) Primary Care Health Services Research fellowship and obtained her Ph.D. in educational psychology from UCLA. She has published in the areas of early reading behaviors, systems of care for children with special health care needs, and parental perceptions of care for children with hearing loss. Dr. Kuo's primary research interests include reading disabilities and social skills problems in children, cultural variations in child development, parenting influences on child development, and developmental systems of care. She has collaborated with the Policy Analysis for California Education (PACE) Center at UC Berkeley and is a co-investigator on a Mexican-American Preschool Study grant proposal submitted to NICHD which proposes to track the development of 700 children in Los Angeles from preschool entry through first grade. She is currently the program director of two residency programs at UCLA: the Community Health and Advocacy Training (CHAT) Program and the Combined Internal Medicine and Pediatrics Residency Program.
