Michelle McEvoy Doty, M.P.H, Ph.D., is vice president of Survey Research and Evaluation for The Commonwealth Fund. Dr. Doty is responsible for designing research studies that benchmark the performance of the U.S. health care system and address disparities in access to health care and health insurance coverage and the quality of health care of vulnerable populations. She has authored more than 40 publications on a range of topics related to high-need patients, international health system comparisons, culture change in nursing homes, health care access and quality among vulnerable populations, primary care doctors’ capacity to deliver care, and the quality of health insurance coverage in the United States. She also works with Fund staff to develop measures for assessing and tracking its organizational performance. Dr. Doty holds a B.A. in anthropology from Barnard College and an M.P.H. and a Ph.D. in public health from the University of California, Los Angeles.
