Joan Jeung, M.D., is currently a pediatrician at the Asian Health Services/Frank Kiang Medical Center in Oakland, Calif. Her leadership experience includes her ongoing position as program director of the Empowering Mothers Initiative, where she oversees the implementation of the joint Health Resources and Services Administration and American Academy of Pediatrics “Healthy Tomorrows Partnership for Children” grant to provide parent education and support groups for emerging/high risk-immigrant and refugee populations in Oakland. She is also a project advisory committee member of the National Center for Medical Home Implementation, a Maternal Child Health Bureau–American Academy of Pediatrics program that identifies and promotes best practices. Dr. Jeung also helps provide leadership to First 5 Alameda County/Help Me Grow’s effort to provide early identification and intervention for developmental and behavioral issues in young children.

Dr. Jeung received her medical degree from the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) in 2002 and completed her residency in general pediatrics at Children’s Hospital and Research Center Oakland (now UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland) in 2005.
