Evaluation of Medicaid Managed Care in New York City, 1999 –2000

Analysts at the United Hospital Fund, New York University, and Columbia University have tracked and evaluated the development of New York City's Medicaid managed care program for the past four years and are now the leading source of information on this topic. Having compiled an extensive baseline of data, the project is poised to assess the impact of mandatory Medicaid managed care-begun in August 1999-on patients, providers, and health plans. Information generated by this project will be essential to upcoming discussions on reauthorization of the state law governing the Medicaid managed care program. The project will continue to be cofunded by the New York Community Trust, the Engelberg Foundation, the Pfizer Foundation, and the United Hospital Fund. http://www.uhfnyc.org/
