Survey of Older Americans' Health Insurance Experiences, Pre- and Post-Medicare

×

To address issues raised by the continuing erosion of job-based coverage for early retirees and proposals to alter the age of Medicare eligibility, a survey of older Americans who are not yet eligible for Medicare and those who are on Medicare will explore their health insurance coverage, care experiences, and views on proposals to improve coverage. Complementing the survey will be an analysis of an ongoing longitudinal panel survey of older Americans to provide new information on older adults who have had spells without health insurance over a four-year period and estimate the proportion at risk as they near retirement. The project will also identify and evaluate policy options to reduce uninsured rates and improve insurance stability and affordability for early retirees and older workers.
