Monitoring Change in the Ability of Academic Health Centers to Achieve Their Missions, 2000-01

With Fund support, the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) has developed the single best source of data on the impact of reduced managed care plan and Medicare payments on academic health centers' teaching, research, specialty care, and indigent care missions. Over the next five months, project staff will complete the integration of this information and post it on the Internet to help the Fund's Task Force on Academic Health Centers, teaching hospital administrators, and policymakers decide on a course of action. The AAMC will also synthesize five years of findings from the 14 AHCs in the Sentinel Network to report on innovative strategies to deal with change in the health care marketplace
