Assessing the Stability and Quality of Health Insurance

In an era of rising health costs and insurance premiums, plan restructuring, and reliance on temporary and part-time workers, concern over the stability and quality of families' health coverage is mounting. At the same time, the Internet's potential to provide ready access to comparative information on insurance options and health care has sparked interest among policymakers and corporations in moving away from group health coverage to more individualized insurance contracts. A national survey of Americans' experiences with and views on group and individual insurance and health care quality will provide a unique opportunity to apprise policymakers and business leaders of the current state of health coverage for working families. The planned involvement of Consumer Reports in developing the questionnaire and disseminating findings will help the survey reach the broadest possible audience.
