Developing Physician Leadership to Reduce Health Disparities

×

Over the next five years, the School of Public Health at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC) plans to develop an initiative within its master's program in public health to attract minority physicians and medical students to the health policy and public health fields. The school also intends to provide all of its students with the means to address racial and ethnic disparities in health. This two-year project will help the school build capacity to reach these goals. Activities will include recruitment of a new faculty member with expertise in minority health issues, design of curriculum, and development of collaborations with historically black colleges and universities to encourage faculty and students to participate in the program. UNC will provide cofunding for this project.
