International Working Group on Quality Indicators

The International Working Group on Quality Indicators, organized by the Fund, met in March 1999 and July 2000 to improve the measures available for cross-national comparisons of health care quality. Two additional meetings will be held in January and April 2001 to continue this work and produce recommendations for a minimum set of quality indicators to be collected in the International Program's five core countries, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Participation in the meetings by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) will encourage synergy between the working group's efforts and WHO and OECD strategies for expanding the quality data collected by industrialized countries. Cofunding is provided by the Nuffield Trust.
