Improving the Collection of Quality Information in State Medicaid Programs

×

A previous Fund-supported initiative developed the first national database of information on the quality of managed care plans serving Medicaid beneficiaries. Partly because of differences in Medicaid programs, states have had uneven success in collecting performance data from health plans. This project will survey state Medicaid agencies to identify obstacles to data collection and develop recommendations to improve quality-measurement activities. With more accurate and complete information, state Medicaid officials will be better equipped to compare plans' performance against external standards and hold plans accountable for the quality of care they provide. http://www.ncqa.org
