BenefitsCheckUp: Helping Low-Income Seniors Receive Health and Other Benefits, Phase One

BenefitsCheckUp is a breakthrough Internet application that screens low-income seniors for their eligibility for a range of public programs, including those that help pay health care expenses. A national demonstration in up to seven locales will test whether the tool's usefulness can be enhanced by enlisting community-based groups to help low-income seniors with eligibility screening and the follow-through necessary to ensure program enrollment. A complementary evaluation will provide rapid feedback on the system's performance so that timely improvements can be made. Cofunding will be provided by the U.S. Department of Commerce and numerous foundations around the country.
