Enhancing Child Development Services in Medicaid Managed Care

As the health care providers for more than one of five Medicaid-enrolled children under age 6, managed care plans offer great potential for enhancing the developmental services provided to young children in low-income families. For this project, the leaders of up to 12 Medicaid managed care plans will design and implement pilot projects intended to strengthen plan incentives, processes, and/or management to meet the comprehensive health care needs of children and parents. After identifying interested health plans and selecting participants, project staff will assist plan officials in crafting their projects. Successful strategies could serve as models for other managed care organizations seeking to improve developmental services for Medicaid-insured children. http://www.chcs.org
