A National Survey of U.S. Physicians About the Quality of Health Care

Efforts to improve quality of care clearly depend on the commitment and engagement of physicians. Yet very little is known about physicians' views regarding problems with quality, what they perceive as barriers to improving care, and where they see opportunities for improvement. The Fund's 2002 National Survey of Physicians and Quality will explore the major quality-related problems that physicians experience in daily practice and the obstacles that hinder their efforts to implement best practices or otherwise to provide high-quality care. Findings will help focus the attention of clinicians, health care leaders, insurers, purchasers, and policymakers on the need to address barriers to quality improvement faced by doctors. They will also inform future activities of the Fund's Quality Improvement Program. http://www.harrisinteractive.com
