Developing New Evidence Standards for Child Development and Health Promotion Services, Phase 2

×

A lack of standards for evaluating the effectiveness of preventive and developmental services for children has impeded pediatricians from obtaining adequate reimbursement for much preventive care—and it may jeopardize coverage of such care in the future. In the first phase of this project, the project team achieved consensus among key stakeholders around the need to create a new model for evaluating evidence in support of these generally low-cost, low-intensity services. The second phase of work will support a national consensus-generating process that should culminate in an agreement on new evidence standards and in the dissemination of those standards. Cofunding will be provided by the Nemours Foundation and the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality.
