With Commonwealth Fund support, the National Senior Citizens Law Center embarked on a project in late 2011 to help consumer representatives ensure the inclusion of strong beneficiary protections in new state models for integrating care provided to people dually eligible for Medicare and Medicaid. The project team has been tracking policy action in this area, posting information about ongoing developments on a dedicated Web site, apprising the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services about progress, and sponsoring activities to encourage the sharing of information and experiences among state-level consumer organizations. In phase 2, project staff will continue these activities, develop new online materials and educational sessions, and include consumer representatives from the 11 additional states that are proposing care integration demonstrations for dual eligibles. Cofunding will be provided by the Nathan Cummings Foundation.
