Since 1999, the annual transatlantic forum on health care quality sponsored by The Commonwealth Fund and the Nuffield Trust has provided a unique opportunity to build relationships among senior policymakers in the United States and United Kingdom, showcase innovations in quality improvement and health care delivery systems, and facilitate an exchange of ideas. The 14th conference in this series, held in July 2013, focused on the challenges in implementing accountable care organizations in the U.S. and clinical commissioning groups in England, and the opportunities for better care and greater cost savings. Building on this valuable collaboration, project staff will commission experts to produce papers for the 15th U.S.–U.K. meeting in 2015. Topics will include: delivery system changes aimed at improving care for high-need/high-cost populations; patient engagement; and health system performance and accountability. The Nuffield Trust will cofund.
