Commonwealth Fund Visiting Scholars, 2016–17

The Commonwealth Fund has established a unique niche in the international health policy arena as a resource for cross-national comparative information on health system performance. To amplify the Fund’s voice and increase domestic receptivity to international best practices, the Fund is piloting a fellowship program to develop a cadre of influential U.S. health policy experts with firsthand knowledge of best practices globally. The Fund will start by piloting a “reverse Harkness” visiting scholar program, which will offer two health policy opinion leaders an opportunity to intensively study a country’s health care system for six to eight weeks and bring back learnings that can inform U.S. health reform efforts.
