IHI/Commonwealth Fund International Program for U.S. Health Care Delivery System Innovation, Phase 2

×

This project aims to identify promising approaches to health care delivery from abroad that might be transferred to the United States to improve quality and lower costs. In phase 1, project staff established the program’s basic infrastructure. In phase 2, the Institute for Healthcare Improvement, in collaboration with The Commonwealth Fund, will identify international solutions to a set of problems prioritized by leading U.S. delivery systems; conduct site visits and develop case studies; and assess barriers and facilitators to U.S. implementation of these solutions. If this work proceeds satisfactorily, a third phase of work will be proposed to pilot a set of international models with a network of U.S. health systems and evaluate their impact and scalability.
