Spotlight Health 2018

×

Now in its fifth year, the Aspen Institute's Spotlight Health conference is a three-day, one-of-a-kind convening that brings together scientists, visionaries, policymakers, activists, public servants, and entrepreneurs from around the globe to talk about big ideas in health. Last year, more 900 people participated, including 113 young leaders attending as part of Aspen's Scholars Program. Because most of these young scholars-who include health care providers, journalists, and business leaders-have had little exposure to policy, The Commonwealth Fund last year piloted the new Policy Scholars Program to build on the existing Spotlight Health Scholars Program. The two Policy Scholars who completed the program reported a positive experience. The Commonwealth Fund will once again support the participation of two Policy Scholars in Spotlight Health 2018 as part of a larger underwriter package. As a conference underwriter, the Fund will gain brand visibility and have several opportunities to disseminate its work to an audience of policy influencers. Based on feedback from the 2017 Policy Scholars, there will be additional opportunities for interaction with the other scholars and conference attendees and for engaging in policy discussions. Spotlight Health will expose the two Fund Policy Scholars to new ideas in health care policy and connect them with peers outside their usual circles. The conference will also allow Fund staff to forge new relationships with key media figures and thought leaders and introduce them to Fund research and analysis, particularly related to prescription drug prices.
