2008 Commonwealth Fund International Health Policy Survey of Sicker Adults

Countries: Australia, Canada, France, Germany, the Netherlands, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and the United States

Survey Organization: Harris Interactive. The Commonwealth Fund partnered with the Health Foundation to expand the U.K. sample. The Health Council of Canada, Ontario Health Quality Council, and Commissaire à la Santé du Quebec expanded the Canadian sample. The Dutch Ministry for Health, Welfare, and Sport and the Center for Quality of Care Research (WOK), Radboud University Nijmegen, supported the Netherlands sample. La Haute Autorité de Santé funded the French survey, and the German Institute for Quality and Efficiency in Health Care, the German survey.

Sample: Initially screened adults met at least one of the following criteria: health is fair or poor; serious illness in past 2 years; or was hospitalized or had major surgery in past 2 years.

Sample Size:
Australia (750), Canada (2,635), France (1,202), Germany (1,201), Netherlands (1,000), New Zealand (751), United Kingdom (1,200), and United States (1,205)
