Aaron McKethan is a research director at the Engelberg Center for Health Reform at the Brookings Institution where he manages the State Health Reform Initiative (SHRI). The SHRI seeks to assist states by identifying and analyzing a range of approaches to improve health care quality and efficiency and expand affordable coverage options. Dr. McKethan was previously at the Lewin Group where he focused primarily on state health reform, Medicaid financing issues, value-based purchasing, and consumer-directed health care. He is currently assistant professorial lecturer of health policy in the Department of Health Policy at the George Washington University Medical Center, School of Public Health and Health Services. He received his Ph.D. in Public Policy Analysis from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he also received a Bachelor of Arts in political science.
