Health Ministers' Report Urges Collaboration

A working group comprising all the Canadian provincial and territorial health ministers recently released a report detailing how the provinces and territories can work together to deliver better health outcomes more affordably.

The report from the Health Care Innovation Working Group outlines measures provinces and territories can implement to enhance patient care and save money, including promoting the adoption of clinical practice guidelines for treating chronic illnesses such as heart disease and diabetes; pursuing team-based health care provider models to increase access to care; identifying generic drugs that provinces can purchase in bulk to reduce prices; and sharing information on health human resources management and supplies.
