Health Care Budget Receives Largest Increase

The 2012–13 financial plan for the New Zealand government provides the health care system with NZ$14.12 billion, which is the sector's largest budget to date. The budget provides funding for public health services and new initiatives, including more money for cancer treatment and dementia services and a focus on faster diagnostic tests, elective surgeries, and better access to after-hours care.
