Introduction: Assessing if Parents' Needs Are Being Met

×

The most reliable and valid way to measure whether you are addressing parents' concerns about their child's learning, development, and/or behavior is to ask parents directly. By involving parents in the measurement process, you will ensure that your efforts are parent-centered. Administering the Promoting Healthy Development Survey (PHDS) in your practice can help you get the feedback you need. The PHDS, developed by the Child and Adolescent Health Measurement Initiative, is a standardized, validated, parent-based survey with age-specific components. This survey asks parents to recall if their child's health care providers asked about and addressed their concerns.
