Abby Hoffman is a research assistant at L&M. She has experience conducting research around issues related to childhood obesity and the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP).
Abby is currently contributing to two projects for the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), one to assess the services available for people with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) in all 50 states and another to evaluate CMS’s Nursing Home Value-Based Purchasing Demonstration. Prior to joining L&M, Abby worked as a research assistant for the Chapel Hill Center for Health Promotion and Disease Prevention (HPDP). In that role, she conducted interviews in both English and Spanish, taught nutrition classes, and enrolled participants in a study examining best practices to combat childhood obesity. She also facilitated classes with another project, also through HPDP, involving African-American women with type 2 diabetes.
Abby holds a B.A., with honors, in public policy from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
