Bill Silberg

Bill Silberg is a former senior vice president for communications and publishing at The Commonwealth Fund. He has a distinguished record in the field of medical publishing and information in both the traditional and online fields, and joined us from WebMD, where he was senior vice president and executive editor for Medscape, WebMD's portal for medical professionals. At Medscape, Mr. Silberg directed the editorial staff responsible for the core content of Web sites across two dozen medical specialties. He had strategic and operational authority for core content development across 30 specialty, professional, and interest area sites, including content acquisition, academic and professional society relations, and the continuing medical education unit. Prior to joining WebMD in 1999, Mr. Silberg worked at the American Medical Association for 13 years. His last position was editorial director, Medical News and New Media Division, for the Journal of the American Medical Association. Early in his career, he was a reporter, editor, and bureau manager for United Press International. Mr. Silberg holds a B.S. from Cornell University and is a member of the Program Committees of the Society for Scholarly Publishing and of the Council of Science Editors.
