Ricardo Custodio

Medical Director, Waianae Coast Comprehensive Health Center, Waianae, Hawaii, and , Associate Professor, A.T. Still University

For over 25 years, Dr. Custodio has worked towards improving health care for the underserved in Hawaii. As a medical director and pediatrician, he helped build two community health centers in urban and rural Hawaii. He also started a successful Medicaid-managed care plan, a model immunization program, and a dining pavilion. Other positions included Consultant and Senior Clinical Advisor at the BPHC Quality Center. He was an Okura Asian American/Pacific Islander Mental Health Leadership Fellow. As a presenter, his areas of expertise include health information technology, quality management, patient visit redesign, clinical leadership and minority health policy. He is now the Medical Director of Waianae Coast Comprehensive Health Center as well as the Fields Open LPGA Tournament Doctor.

Dr. Custodio completed his medical degree and pediatric residency at the Kapiolani Medical Center for Women and Children, a teaching hospital affiliated with the University of Hawaii's John A. Burns School of Medicine, in 1986 and 1989 respectively. He completed the CFHU Fellowship, and received his M.P.H. from the Harvard School of Public Health in 1998.
