Sharon K. Long

Senior Fellow, Urban Institute

Sharon K. Long is a senior fellow at the Urban Institute with over 25 years of experience conducting quantitative and qualitative policy research. Her work focuses on a range of health policy issues with a particular emphasis on Medicaid, managed care, access to and use of health care, the health care safety net, and state health policy and health reform. She directs the Institute's ongoing evaluation of health reform in Massachusetts, which has fielded and analyzed annual surveys of residents in the state since 2006. Building on that work, she is also directing the next round of the Massachusetts Household Insurance Survey for the Division of Health Care Finance and Policy in Massachusetts. Beyond her research in Massachusetts, Dr. Long's current work also includes evaluations of state health reform initiatives in Florida, Illinois and New York. Dr. Long received a Ph.D. in economics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
