Medicare Data Hub

The Commonwealth Fund’s Medicare Data Hub provides up-to-date facts, research, and analyses about Medicare, a program that provides health coverage to more than 60 million Americans — about one in six people — including older adults, people with serious disabilities, and other vulnerable individuals. A resource for policymakers, researchers, health care providers, consumer advocates, and journalists, the data hub is intended to spark and inform discussion about issues that affect health care for Medicare beneficiaries and other Americans.

About the Medicare Data Hub

A major lever for innovation and reform, Medicare plays an outsize role in the U.S. health care system. The program is the nation’s largest payer of health care services, is a major source of support for medical education and rural providers and serves as the testing ground for innovative payment models. Medicare payment policy often sets a benchmark for the commercial market, and it is often held up as a possible model for universal coverage.

We are launching the Medicare Data Hub with an initial focus on information pertinent to the annual Medicare Open Enrollment Period — October 15 through December 7, 2020 — including information on the availability, costs, and benefits of private Medicare plans. To learn about our data sources and methods, click here. Future updates will feature data and analysis on broader Medicare trends and performance.
