Watch a 'Talking Health' Webcast on the Public Plan Option

Health reform is picking up steam in Congress. One of the most controversial aspects of the debate is proving to be whether employers and individuals should have the option to obtain health insurance through a public plan that is similar to Medicare.

The latest webcast in a series called "Talking Health," presented by the Association of Health Care Journalists, The Commonwealth Fund, and the City University of New York Graduate School of Journalism, was streamed live on Friday, May 1, at 2:30 p.m., E.D.T. This episode featured two health policy experts: Cathy Schoen, senior vice president for research and evaluation at The Commonwealth Fund, and Bruce M. Bullen, chief operating officer of Harvard Pilgrim Health Care. Noam Levey, a reporter in the Washington Bureau of the Los Angeles Times, and Reed Abelson of The New York Times, provided his insights and suggestions for reporters covering what will be a major story in the coming months.
