Emily Curran, M.P.H., is a research fellow and faculty member in the Center on Health Insurance Reforms, Health Policy Institute, McCourt School of Public Policy at Georgetown University. Her current research focuses on private health insurance and the effects of the Affordable Care Act, with emphasis on the implementation of the federal and state health insurance exchanges.

Prior to joining the Georgetown faculty, Curran worked at Avalere Health, where she supported life science and health plan clients in responding to health insurance marketplace reforms, in addition to providing expertise relating to dual eligible beneficiaries and Medicare Advantage. Before joining Avalere, she completed her Master’s Practicum at the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy, and gained experience at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services—Office of Inspector General, American Public Health Association, and in the Office of U.S. Senator Jack Reed (D–R.I.).

Curran holds an advanced dual-degree, receiving her B.S. in Public Health and M.P.H. in Health Policy from George Washington University’s Milken Institute School of Public Health.
