Renewal of the grant to the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) will support senior scientist David Radley’s data management and analytic activities in support of Tracking Health System Performance. These include data procurement, analysis, and methodological development for the scorecards and other quantitative health data reporting tools. Major scorecard activities in the next year include updates to core health system tracking performance metrics and derivative analyses of state and local variations and the care experiences of specific populations, including high-need, high-cost patients. The growing number of scorecards and case studies produced by this team to date provides performance benchmarks and improvement targets to inform understanding and action by policymakers and their staff, health system leaders and providers, and thought leaders and the public.
