Sara Federman is a senior program assistant for the Federal and State Health Policy program at the Commonwealth Fund, where she is responsible for a variety of duties ranging from grants management, writing and editing, and analyzing federal and state health policy developments related to the Fund’s priority areas. She also provides programmatic support for the Fund’s Medicaid program, Behavioral Health initiative, and Public Health Modernization initiative. She was promoted from program assistant in July 2023. Prior to joining the Fund, Federman served as a program assistant for Public Health Preparedness for Seattle and King County. There, she provided organizational and program management support to public health staff leading the county’s COVID-19 response. She also designed and developed products that were utilized across the department, including a toolkit on conducting after-action reviews of COVID-19 response work and a best practices manual for equitable hiring. Federman earned a B.A. in psychology from Whitman College.
