In early May, Ontario Health Minister Deb Matthews announced a package of cuts to doctor fees. The package includes 37 fee schedule changes for doctors, many of which focus on specialists. These cuts will save an estimated CAD$338 million for 2012–13 and CAD$440 million in 2013–14. The cuts were announced after negotiations between the Ontario Medical Association and the government fell through. Other provinces, including Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, and Nova Scotia, are also looking at overhauling fee schedules or reducing fees.
